Stress and Pain
Attendance and Participation
This summer, the class is being taught as "synchronous remote". This means that we will NOT meet physically in a classroom. Instead, you will watch pre-recorded lectures according to a planned schedule. But of course, you can choose what time of day you watch them.
Is there an attendance requirement? Sort of. It's really a check-in requirement. Every Wednesday, you will need to zoom in with me at 10:00 a.m. This will give me time to see if you are doing okay with the class and answer any questions you have. I am also happy to simply chat with you if there's something you are learning about and you would like to know more. Once we have touched base you are free to stay or leave. Note: do not simply log in and log out without actually speaking with me! Personal connection is important, which brings me to the next point.
Why do we need to meet at all? Research shows that the more students engage in the course, the better their learning outcomes. Plus, I really want to get to know you as best I can!
What if I miss a Wednesday Zoom session?
If you miss more than one Wednesday check-in, you will not be eligible to receive extra credit in the class. But more importantly, not checking in may lead you to disengage from the class and likely not do as well as you might have otherwise.
