Fun and Games
We will partake in three different games throughout the semester: Hogwarts Challenge, Quest for the Triwizard Cup, and The Mystery of the Golden Snitch.
Hogwarts Challenge & The House Cup
This game challenges one house against the other, and we will play it most days. You will be presented with a Hogwarts research investigation, to which you must answer a series of questions. Houses will take turns getting first crack at the answers, as will one wizard within the chosen house. Housemates can discuss the answers, but the chosen one must be the person to dislose this information. The house

earns a point for each correct answer. Incorrect answers may be attempted by another house, determined at random - and they can earn points if answered correctly. These points will be added to the bonus points each wizard in the house earns over the semester. The house with the most bonus points will win the House Cup!
Triwizard Tournament
This board game challenges wizards within each house, and we will play it most days. You will take on a character from Hogarts and move along a 40-tile path towards the golden snitch circle in the middle. To move a tile, you must correctly answer a stats question on a card drawn at random. There are facilitators along each path, but beware: there are hazards too! The first person to reach the circle wins. Whoever wins three times receives the tri-wizard cup! Note that it may take many class periods to finish a single game.
The Mystery of the Golden Snitch
This game challenges the individual wizard. Your job is to identify the individual who stole the golden snitch. You will be shown empty spaces to represent the perpetrator's name. Each space may represent a letter or a space. There will also be two "distractor" letters (i.e. letters that are NOT part of the name). Every time you get a perfect score on a studio quiz, you will be able to buy a letter. If the letter is in the name, you will be shown where it appears. If there are multiples of that letter in the name, you will be shown them all. When you think you know the answer, you may guess. If you guess incorrectly, you will have only one more opportunity, so be careful. Also note, even with all the letters filled in, the answer may be "in disguise" and require some creative sleuthing. Those wizards who solve the crime will receive 20 bonus points. Note: this game must be played on your own - no getting help from your fellow wizards.
